All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

Brief Job Description

Incumbents are responsible for supervising staff and assisting with all residential real estate appraisal operations. Duties include:

  • Supervision to ensure that all residential real estate is properly listed and valued on an annual basis
  • Prepare activity reports
  • Review residential sales and ratio studies
  • Perform quality control to ensure sales file, database and property characteristic data is accurate within the residential department

Additional duties will include:

  • Neighborhood Analysis
  • Conducting Index/Depreciation studies and Quality Control reviews
  • Assisting with Residential Market Modeling
  • Final Review and preparing special reports required for yearly Maintenance
  • Represent and assist with oversight of appeal hearings at the local and state levels
  • Provide staff training
  • Taxpayer customer service and maintain compliance with the State of Kansas laws and regulations

Field work at times will be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of mass appraisal experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • One year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Required courses:
    • IAAO 101, 102, 201 & 300
    • Kansas Division of Property Valuation courses: Residential Data Collection, Index/Depreciation and Kansas Property Tax Law
  • Experience with valuation appeals and must be knowledgeable of Kansas Statutes relating to property taxation
  • Experienced user of Microsoft applications, Pictometry, Apex, ORION or equivalent applications preferred
  • Valid Kansas Driver’s License, Motor Vehicle Record check and current liability insurance required

Salary Range

$25.96-$34.99/hr
